Pinterest is an amazing tool for all teachers. This tool has page after page of incredible ideas that teachers can implement in their classroom. Teachers can truly find ANYTHING that they could use in their classroom on Pinterest. There are ideas about classroom decor, DIY activities, behavior management tools, and how to teach different topics to students. Creating a Pinterest account is easy and free. Once you are logged in, the user can create boards on their Pinterest page where they can "pin" ideas and pictures. All pins and boards are available for anyone to see. This makes it easy for teachers to share ideas with each other.
So far, the boards that I created are about classroom decor, classroom activities, classroom DIYs, my overall elementary classroom, and inspiring teacher quotes. I created these boards because I am not usually the most creative person, so I will be using Pinterest to come up with some innovative and exciting activities that I can do with my students. I also love to decorate, so I am greatly looking forward to decorating my future classroom. Pinterest has already given me some great ideas that I can use for themes and for fun organization in my classroom. I LOVE inspirational quotes, and there are a ton out there about teachers. I like to read them because they encourage that what I am doing is incredibly important, even on the rough days. As I continue to grow as an educator, I will be adding many more boards to my page.
Pinterest fits in the Danielson Framework of Domain 4d: Participating in a Professional Community. This website allows teachers to share ideas with fellow teachers worldwide. Two different teachers in two different countries could be implementing the same idea in their classroom thanks to Pinterest. It helps to create a culture of professional inquiry among teachers, which is an element of Domain 4d. Under this element, teachers strive to create a community where they can help each other grow in their teaching skills. Pinterest is made up of creative ideas that shows teachers how to teach different subjects and ideas. These ideas allow teachers to grow their teaching skills and develop their pedagogy.
Pinterest is a well-oiled machine that is very useful for teachers. You can easily search for anything that they would like to implement in their classroom, and many pins will pop about ideas regarding the topic. Pinterest is a successful website that all teachers should use!
In my Foundations of Teaching class, we have been discussing the importance of engaging students in learning. Pinterest gives teachers ideas that are fun for students but also educational. This will help students to stay interested in what they are learning.
I plan on using Pinterest in my future classroom to gain knowledge about what is trending in the educational world. This will help to keep me up to date on ideas that I can implement in my classroom. The website has so many amazing tools that I can implement in my classroom to help my students better their learning experience.
