This domain discusses the need for teachers to be able to make changes during a lesson plan if the conditions of the classroom are altered. Most of the time, the teacher and class will be able to stick to what the lesson plan has laid out for the day. Sometimes, though, the lesson does not go according to plan. The students may not be comprehending the material like the teacher thought they would, or a teachable moment may have come up that set the lesson back a little bit. Whatever the scenario may be, teachers must be able to adapt to the change. Learning must continue to take place no matter the circumstance. Teachers must know how to keep the students engaged despite setbacks that may have occurred.

The elements that compose Domain 3e are...
- Lesson adjustment: Teachers must learn how to be able to make minor and major changes during a lesson. In order to make these changes successful, the teacher must have a "toolbox" full of personal confidence and other instructional strategies.
- Response to students: During a lesson, a teachable moment may occur. It is important, as the teacher, to seize these moments and deepen their knowledge on the specific subject.
- Persistence: TEACHERS CANNOT GIVE UP ON THEIR STUDENTS. Students will at some point encounter difficulties during the learning process, but as teachers, we must use different strategies to get them to understand the lesson.
