Bloomz is an exciting, new tool that is available in order to make teachers' crazy lives a little bit easier. For teachers to gain access to the website, all they have to do is sign up for a free account and create their classroom link. Teachers can add their students' names and track their behavior, attendance, and work all in one website. It is so simple, yet so useful in the classroom. Teachers can also add parents to the classroom; this makes it so that parents can easily see what is happening in the classroom. Parents can also add to sign-up sheets and effortlessly contact the teacher at any time. Overall, Bloomz allows for easy communication between teachers, students, and parents.
A key part to Bloomz is that it allows the teacher to easily manage their students' behavior. The website has a behavior tab where teachers can add "Good Job" and "Needs Work" characteristics that they want their students to work on. Throughout the day, teachers can document their students' behavior based on these set characteristics. Students can earn or get points taken away based on their behavior. This fits perfectly under the Danielson Framework of "Managing Student Behavior" because this allows teachers to consolidate the behavior traits that they want their students to exhibit and track their behavior during the day and throughout the year.
This tool enforces the idea of growth mindset by showing students what they need to work on in their behavior. It rewards the students for their good work, but it also encourages the students to work in the behavior areas where they may be struggling. Bloomz is an easy way to show students that they CAN improve and they CAN be proud of their behavior.
I can use this tool in my future classroom by using it as a way track students behavior. If throughout the week I have had a student who has been struggling in a specific area, I can sit down with them and show them specifically what behavior areas they need to work on for the following week. Then the next week we can sit down together again and reassess if improve has been made or if work still needs to be done. This will allow me, as a teacher, a time where I can connect with my students over their struggles and help them overcome their struggles.
I enjoying creating my Bloomz because it introduced me to an amazing new tool that I could implement in my future classroom. I liked the possibility of being able to connect with parents, as well as students, all in one classroom. I felt like, as a teacher, I would be able to keep lots of different types of information on there for my classroom. I enjoyed learning all of what the website has to offer teachers.
