Creating a positive classroom environment for your students is key helping your students succeed. The main components of Domain 2 are creating an environment of respect and rapport, establishing a culture of learning, managing classroom procedures, managing student behavior, and organizing the physical space. These elements are needed in creating a classroom environment where students are able to learn through struggle and positive peer interaction. When a positive classroom environment is created through Domain 2, students are more likely to thrive and succeed.
Teachers use the ideas found in Domain 2 to create the atmosphere of their classroom. For example, my virtual co-op teacher is emphasizing "listening to each other" in her classroom this year. This will help her students to value each other's opinions and learn how to get along better. Creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable to share their feelings help to establish a culture of learning in the classroom. Use Domain 2 to create a positive attitude and environment in the classroom.
